Much like sunlight does in the atmosphere, AirFront’s Ionisation systems produce a natural bio-climate rich in positive and negative oxygen ions.

The negative ions contain an extra electron while the positive ions are missing an electron resulting in an unstable condition.

In an effort to restabilize, these bipolar ions seek out atoms and molecules in the air to trade electrons with, effectively neutralizing particulate matter, bacteria and virus cells, odorous gases and aerosols, and VOCs.

Airborne particles are charged by the ions causing them to cluster and be caught in filters.

Bacteria and viruses bond with oxygen ions and are inactivated.

Many odorous gases and aerosols oxidize with oxygen ions and are neutralized.

Oxygen ions cause a reaction with VOCs breaking down their molecular structure.

Ultraviolet

UV can create noxious gases and is mutagenic. Bacteria kill rates are negligible with no effectiveness in the occupied space. Remember AirFront’s Ionisation technology continues to be effective once the air leaves the unit.

HEPA Filters

HEPA filters add significant pressure drop resulting in greater power requirements for fan motors and thus increase energy usage and cost.

HEPA Filter Air Purifiers

HEPA filter air purifiers can at best only catch particles down to PM0.1. Viruses are extremely small particles, below PM0.05-0.003, and are difficult to catch with regular HEPA filter air purifiers. Also HEPA filters are rarely even fitted correctly. If a virus is caught in the HEPA filter it also stays alive and can be released back into the air again.

Carbon Filtration

Carbon has high initial cost, additional space requirements in the air handling units and prohibitive media replacement costs.

Hospitality

Good Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in the hospitality sector, just like food hygiene, is a necessity. Guests expect a comfortable and healthy indoor environment. This could be challenging as hotels are typically built as closed air-tight environments which can potentially be a breeding ground for viruses and bacteria. Ensure that the air they are breathing is free from anything that could potentially make them sick. Taking action can help reduce the possibility of further closure due to virus outbreaks.

Schools

Improving IAQ in school classrooms is now a necessity. Maintaining a level of indoor air quality promotes better concentration and focus but also makes for a safer place in which students can thrive at all levels of education.

Retrofitting Existing HVAC Installations

AirFront can easily incorporate our air purification systems into new or existing buildings, reducing energy consumption and providing a healthy, productive environment for employees. Systems can be built to suit any building configuration, use less energy than a light bulb, and require little to no maintenance.

We can most certainly supply stand alone units if we feel it is the right option for your application. Unfortunately many suppliers of standalone units, just sell the unit with little knowledge of the actual application or potential effectiveness. This is similar to buying a cheap one bar electric heater and hoping that it will heat a large space.

Monitoring is always a good idea in relation to providing you and others with a visual indication of how the system is working. 

AirFront will be more than happy to recommend the best monitoring solution for your exact requirements.

It depends on many points, firstly the unit needs to be sized to service the area required and also be able to deliver air to all areas of the space.  It would be like buying a one bar electric heater and expecting it to heat a large room.  If neither of these criteria are met, then it would be a total waste of money.

UV has many beneficial uses, however one by-product of UV is ozone gas.  This ozone gas is unfortunately harmful to humans and can cause very serious respiratory issues. Relatively low amounts of ozone can cause chest pain, coughing (with Covid-19 we need to try and reduce coughing and the spread of more contaminants), shortness of breath and throat irritation.  For this reason, we recommend our guaranteed zero ozone systems, which are not only safe to use but also continue to be effective at deactivating viruses in the air even after the air has exited the system.

An AirFront system will never cause you to cough! Unfortunately, many of the other air purification systems on the market produce various by-products which can lead to coughing and indeed much more serious issues. An AirFront system is guaranteed to produce no harmful by-products as found in systems with UV, Photocatalytic oxidation, UVGI cleaning and Sanitization misting. Even if you don’t buy one of our systems, please ensure that none of the above mentioned technologies are used in the system you eventually choose.
